THE FIGHTER

Biography.

Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano is a Puerto Rican professional boxer and former Universal Boxing Federation World Featherweight and Inter-Continental Super Featherweight Champion. Born on October 9, 1988, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the southpaw built a championship career defined by punching power, pressure and success across seven weight divisions. Her older sister, Cindy “Checkmate” Serrano, also became a UBF world champion. Serrano turned professional in 2009 and won her first world championship on September 10, 2011, stopping Kimberly Connor in the second round to capture the vacant IBF Super Featherweight title in Brooklyn. UBF Inter-Continental Championship On December 15, 2012, Serrano defeated Lina Milagros Tejada at the Sosua Bay Grand Casino in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to capture the vacant UBF Inter-Continental Super Featherweight Championship. She scored three knockdowns before the contest ended by technical knockout at 1:20 of the first round. The victory established her place in the UBF championship archive ahead of her world-title success the following year. UBF World Championship On February 16, 2013, Serrano defeated Wanda Peña Ozuna at Gran Arena del Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, winning the vacant UBF World Featherweight Championship and WIBA World Featherweight title. The scheduled ten-round contest ended by technical knockout at 1:57 of round one. When Cindy won the UBF World Super Featherweight title in May 2013, the sisters simultaneously held UBF world championships in neighboring divisions. Seven-Division World Champion Serrano continued collecting world titles beyond the UBF. Her championship victories included María Elena Maderna for the WBO Lightweight title in 2014, Olivia Gerula for the WBO Featherweight title in 2016, Alexandra Lazar for the WBO Super Bantamweight title later that year, Dahiana Santana for the WBO Bantamweight title in 2017, and Yamila Esther Reynoso for the WBO Super Lightweight title in 2018. On January 18, 2019, she stopped Eva Voraberger in just 35 seconds to win the WBO Super Flyweight title, becoming the first woman to win major world championships in seven weight divisions, spanning 115 to 140 pounds. Serrano later returned to featherweight, defeating Heather Hardy for the WBO title in 2019 and Sarah Mahfoud for the IBF title in 2022. On February 4, 2023, she defeated Erika Cruz by unanimous decision in New York to unite the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO Featherweight championships, becoming Puerto Rico’s first undisputed boxing world champion of the four-belt era. Her UBF Inter-Continental and World championship victories remain important milestones in a career that helped expand the visibility of women’s boxing.
